“However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20
We want results. God wants faithfulness – regardless of the results that we do or don’t get.
We want to rejoice in what we’ve done and in successful service – in something we can see, count, measure, touch.
But what God counts as worthy is our relationship to Him. Have we believed Him? Are we faithful to Him? Are we being faithful and steadfast – waiting for Him – even when the waves and trials come crashing in on us? Are we being faithful to seek Him, trust Him, and hold on to Him even when we don’t understand?
Are we being faithful to stand strong against the tide of darkness when our efforts don’t seem to make a dent? Are we being faithful to stand strong for God when others would have us back down, be quiet, or blend in? Are we being faithful to stand strong for God even when others are trying to persecute us, even with something as innocuous as joking?
It may seem kind of backwards, but your very circumstances, are God’s best opportunity for you to know Him and His ways and purposes more. Your very circumstances are God’s opportunity for His light to shine through you in the current sea of darkness that surrounds you.
Instead of viewing things from our own limited viewpoint – we can cry out to Him for His help. We can ask Him for a right understanding of His truth. We can ask Him what our proper response should be in our difficult circumstances. He has a purpose in mind.
Stay faithful to God. Study God’s word so that you might be strengthened.
