The Crazies – When Nobody Hears Us

By dcamomile | October 18, 2010 | Category: Various Topics to Live the Good News

What is the one thing that can drive us crazier, faster, than anything else? To share something with someone else and not be listened to – they either don’t hear, don’t care, or they twist what we say and mean.

To have someone turn a deaf ear or hard heart to what we share is maddeningly, frustrating. The more important the information is to us or the more personal, the crazier it can make us.

If we share information based on truth and someone spurns our words and turns away flippantly this too, hurts.

So it is  with God.

“…yes, this is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘I will send [catastrophe] against them…I will pursue them… For they have not listened to my words,’ declares the LORD, ‘words that I sent to them again and again by my servants the prophets. And you exiles have not listened either,’ declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 29:17,19

God has taken great pains to share His Words (of great truth) with us and how easy it is for us to turn away from what He says. Not only turning away from what He says, but turning to our own plans of made-up wisdom. We twist His words into what we want to hear. We say to ourselves and each other, “Well, I’m sure that this is what God really meant…”

And then we wonder why we feel so distant from God.

Do you take time to read God’s Word? Have you figured out a way to incorporate reading His Word into your life – daily? Do you take Him at His Word – the good, hopeful parts and the hard, personal parts?

And hey, the next time someone spurns what you share, and you get angry, think of God and His level of frustration. Imagine for just a moment that you have a glimpse into how God feels every time His Word is ignored.
