A Different View

October 30, 2010 by dcamomile

Sometimes, when I look at my life, I wonder why God hasn’t answered some of my prayers differently or sooner than He has. I wonder why He hasn’t protected me all together from certain hurts and pains. When I ponder -“Why God?” I sense Him revealing to me that it has been His desire to show me other treasures, views, and mysteries that I wouldn’t have seen any other way. And so He chose this path for me. I get the picture of a mountain climber. The terrain they choose is severe, rough, and not forgiving, but they see a …

I Must Remember God’s Awesome Truths

October 25, 2010 by dcamomile

How come I so easily forget God’s truths? Thankfully I go back to God’s Word and I’m refreshed and reminded, otherwise I am overwhelmed and beaten down by this life. I turn to 2 Corinthians 1 and I see afresh these truths: 1) God wants to comfort us – 3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles… I need to remind myself that I have to go to God and share with Him my circumstances, failings, and needs. Instead …

Does Jesus Know You?

October 22, 2010 by dcamomile

There are certainly some tough and interesting verses in Scripture. One interesting place in Scripture is where Jesus says that one day He will turn many away. They think they have called Him “Lord, Lord”, but He will say, “Away from me, I never you.” (See Matthew 7:21-23.) He doesn’t say, “Away from me, you never knew me.” (And we can certainly know much about God to a large degree by reading Scripture and studying His Word, but that doesn’t mean that we know Him as one friend knows another.) He says, “I never knew you.” This is in light …

The Crazies – When Nobody Hears Us

October 18, 2010 by dcamomile

What is the one thing that can drive us crazier, faster, than anything else? To share something with someone else and not be listened to – they either don’t hear, don’t care, or they twist what we say and mean.  To have someone turn a deaf ear or hard heart to what we share is maddeningly, frustrating. The more important the information is to us or the more personal, the crazier it can make us. If we share information based on truth and someone spurns our words and turns away flippantly this too, hurts. So it is  with God. “…yes, …

Mission on Earth

October 14, 2010 by dcamomile

Here is a test to find whether your mission on earth is finished: If you’re alive, it isn’t.– Richard Bach Do you know what your purpose in life is? Do you know what your gifts are? Joys and abilities are gifts, but they can seem insignificant and can  go undervalued and undeveloped by us. Here is a random list of gifts: Enjoying people An eye for composition and beauty whether through photography, art, or design Talent and ability with numbers and math; being able to balance financial statements Talent and ability with words The ability to see facts, truth and …

Sticking Close to our Father…

October 10, 2010 by dcamomile

“The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life….” John 3:35-36 Have you ever been with someone important at a special place or event where the security people mean business? As long as you stay with that person you’re okay. If anybody approaches you and asks who you are and what you’re doing there, you either reply, “I’m with him (or her),” or your friend replies, “They’re with me.” And you’re good to go. The security personnel who could haul you out in an instant, step back and give …

Expect God – But Don’t Constrict God

October 5, 2010 by dcamomile

We should all be expecting God to come into our circumstances, but we shouldn’t be expecting Him to come in a particular way. The Bible, all the way through shares story upon story where God shows up in a most unexpected and often unnerving way. He’s in a burning bush; He’s in a dream; He makes a donkey talk; He allows a person’s possessions and family to be swept away; He’s in a whisper; He’s in a jar of oil. In the New Testament, I think, Jesus must take great delight in interacting with each person, each request, each question …

“I Can’t”

September 30, 2010 by dcamomile

Sometime ago I was laying on my bed thinking about my struggles with a particular relationship. I felt finished, done, wiped-out. I kept telling myself I should try harder and love them more. But I knew I couldn’t. I had gone as far as I could go. I didn’t have anything more in me to give. But still, I kept thinking, “Robbi, you are supposed to try harder and love more.” I was wrestling with my feelings and thought – “I can’t. I can’t. I don’t have any more love and patience and effort in me.” Then it hit me. …
